The next pay-per-view (PPV) on WWE programming is the Fastlane event scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at the ThunderDome inside the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. This will be the sixth show with the name and will be the final stop of the PPV before WrestleMania 37 in April.
The show is only a week away and only three matches are official for the show so far:
- Roman Reigns (c) vs. Daniel Bryan (universal championship)
After Bryan won a Universal title bout by winning a fight in the Elimination Chamber and Reigns literally gave it to him shortly after that tiring cage encounter, he went back to fighting for the title by defeating Jey Uso. Usage will take place at SmackDown this week to determine who will act as “special reinforcement” for the fight. The winner fights with Edge for the title in WrestleMania 37.
- Big E (c) vs. Apollo Crews (intercontinental championship)
Crews recently turned on his heel, discounting his frustrations at the Big E with a few steel steps at an injury angle that caused the champion to miss three weeks of television. While he was away, Crews embraced his Nigerian roots and appears to be in line for a kind of push. We’ll see if that means taking the title here.
- Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair (women’s doubles championship)
Belair will challenge Banks to the SmackDown women’s championship in WrestleMania 37 but first of all they will try to win the tag team titles together. They fought while trying to work as a team, of course. But Jax is distracted by Reginald. We’ll see.
That is the card so far.
There are only a few weeks between this show and WrestleMania 37, and even that card looks largely in the air. Therefore, there are hardly any rumors around this card. Dirty Dawgs may be defending the SmackDown tag team titles. Otherwise, who knows.
