WWE champion Drew McIntyre tests positive for COVID 20 days before the Royal Rumble

This afternoon, WWE announced that twice-current WWE champion Drew McIntyre has tested positive for COVID-19 and is in quarantine. McIntyre’s positive test was reported hours before RAW was scheduled to air live in the U.S. at 8 pm EST.

News of McIntyre’s diagnosis also arrives just 20 days before the annual Royal Rumble takes place on January 31. The Royal Rumble will be held at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida, where the WWE takes place changed your ThunderDome after originally settling in Orlando before the NBA season began.

WWE has maintained its COVID negotiations internally, in addition to some reports, including one of Forbes via Wrestling Observer Live who reported that the unit had about 30 simultaneous COVID cases at one point last summer. WWE has not yet followed up on announcements about additional COVID cases, the status of tonight’s RAW episode or any other news.
