WWE Announces Drew McIntyre Tested Positive for COVID-19

WWE champion Drew McIntyre was scheduled to renew relations with Randy Orton on Raw tonight (Jan. 11). This will not happen, as the WWE announced a few minutes ago that McIntyre tested positive for COVID-19 and “was quarantined”.

As shocking as the news itself is the company’s decision to release it publicly. Despite several reports of outbreaks behind the scenes in 2020, WWE has always bypassed or provided other explanations for anyone who has been marginalized with the coronavirus. For some reason, they changed course in 2021 to one of their biggest stars.

In addition to the title fight with Orton, announced last Friday, a Royal Rumble match with Goldberg was scheduled for Royal Rumble on January 31st. It is possible that McIntyre is doing well and will be released later this month, but WWE may want to establish a backup plan just in case.

We’ll find out tonight. Join us and wish McIntyre a quick and complete recovery.
