WRs Eskridge and Smith stand out – The Athletic

MOBILE, Alabama. – The bleachers at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the southern Alabama campus were filled with scouts and NFL personnel on Tuesday, when the Senior Bowl practice week began.

Generally, players in various positions, such as the quarterback, start slowly on the first day, as they develop their timing in the new environment. But prospects for a skill position got off to a hot start on Tuesday, specifically wide receivers.

I wrote about Western Michigan’s Dwayne Eskridge in my preview of the Senior Bowl as a player who could become this year’s Senior Bowl riser, like Terry McLaurin, two years ago, and he didn’t disappoint in the first practice.

On his tape, Eskridge seems to be moving at a different speed than everyone else at the Mid-American Conference. And it was more of the same against the best competition here. The cornerbacks struggled to pressure him and contain him on the line while Eskridge used his speed and at the right time …
