The undefeated NC State Wolfpack climbed four positions and climbed to fourth place nationally in the latest survey of the Associated Press’s top 25, after a week in which Wolfpack eliminated the country’s best ranked team in South Carolina and then won 52 points a Coastal Carolina in earning the NCAA.com Team of the Week honors.
In a declaration game at the start of the season, NC State went to South Carolina and won 54-46 on December 3, handing the best Gamecocks their first home loss since the end of the 2018-19 regular season and beating the which was previously a 29-game winning streak for South Carolina. Wolfpack then went on to win a dominant home win over Chanticleers, during which they overcame Coastal Carolina by 64-10 in the second and third quarters. NC State had six players scoring double digits in the 98-46 victory on Sunday afternoon. Wolfpack hit 49.3 percent (37 of 75) as a team, with all 11 players scoring points on the court, led by point guard Raina Perez (17 points, 5 of 8 shots), with Dontavia Wagoner, Camille Hobby and Jones adding 12 points each.

NC State’s 4th national position tied its high season in the 2019-20 campaign, when it was also ranked 4th in the week of February 10. This was the program’s best ranking since January 10, 2000, when Wolfpack was ranked third, ending six consecutive weeks in the top five.
Then NC State (4-0) will host Elon on Wednesday night, before starting to play at the conference next weekend at Boston College on December 13.
