Women’s basketball: Tar Heels officially signs second 2021 recruiting class

UNC’s magnificent reconstruction of the women’s basketball technique, Courtney Banghart, continued on Wednesday, with four first-rate recruits for the 2021 class officially signing their National Letters of Intent.

According to ESPN, all four players are ranked among the top 20 in the country and Tar Heels are the second incoming class in the country, behind South Carolina only.

The class is led by the local product Teonni Key (Cary High School / Cary, NC), a 1.8 m wing with great positional versatility. Key is ranked No. 9 in America.

Also included are snipers Kayla McPherson (Madison County High School / Hull, GA), the 1.8m guard Morasha Wiggins (Kalamazoo Central High School / Kalamazoo, MI) and another 1.8m wing at Destiny Adams (Manchester Township High School / Whiting, NJ).

McPherson is ranked No. 17 in the class, while Wiggins and Adams trail behind No. 18 and No. 20, respectively.

“At Carolina, we work hard to recruit the best nationally, as well as to ensure that the best talent in the state stays at home,” said Banghart in a statement. “In this class, we did both and we couldn’t be more excited about everything to come for this group.

“We look forward to adding your speed, versatility, athleticism, kick, defensive endurance and more to our program,” added the UNC coach. “Destiny, Teonni, Kayla and Morasha chose Carolina for all the right reasons and are looking forward to doing something special here together.”
