Women, 34 and 44, dressed as elderly to get the COVID-19 vaccine, officials say

Two women wearing gloves, glasses and hats are accused of posing as elderly women in an attempt to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine, according to health officials.

“This is the hottest commodity in existence right now,” said Orange County health officer Dr. Raul Pino of the vaccine.

In addition, Pino said they arrived at the Orange County Convention Center on Thursday for the second shot.

“They had a valid CDC card, vaccination card, there were some problems with their identities and driver’s license,” explained Dr. Pino.

He said the women were about to receive the vaccine when they were stopped.

“They were detected by the vaccinators, of course, who looked funny,” said Pino.

The deputies were called and, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the women had “… birth dates that did not match those they had used to register vaccines. The names, however, did match the record.”

The woman, aged 34 and 44, received warnings of invasion.

“Part of the discoveries we have to make is – were they really vaccinated by us? When were they vaccinated? What happened? What day and what time? To try to find out if there are any gaps in the process,” said Dr. Pino.

It is not the first time that health officials say they have prevented people from getting the injection.

When asked about general fraud, Dr. Pino added that another man who had the same name as his father tried to show his father’s card at the vaccine center, but the birthday didn’t match.
