Woman’s body found next to the railroad tracks near the Santa Bárbara waterfront | Local News

A woman was found dead on Wednesday near the edge of Santa Barbara, but there is no suspicion of a crime, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Officers and other emergency personnel were dispatched around 11:40 am after a passer-by found the body adjacent to the railroad tracks near Milpas Street, Lt. Aaron Baker told Noozhawk.

“It looked like she was walking the tracks,” said Baker of the woman, who looked to be in her 20s and 30s.

The woman’s name was not released pending positive identification and notification of relatives, and the cause and circumstances of her death are pending, Baker said.

Detectives were called to the scene, Baker said, but added that “there is no reason to believe that a crime is involved”.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau has been sent to collect the body and will be conducting an investigation into the death.
