Woman shot dead at U.S. Capitol, several policemen injured after pro-Trump protesters accused construction

A woman who was shot inside the United States Capitol on Wednesday died, DC Police confirmed to FOX 5. This happened after pro-Trump protesters attacked the building when Congress started counting the votes of the Electoral College.

The shooting was reported shortly after 3 pm, while the situation worsened inside and outside the Capitol.

The victim was later identified as Ashli ​​Babbit, from San Diego.

Her mother-in-law told Lindsay Watts of FOX 5: “I really don’t know why she decided to do this.”

Babbit is a 14-year veteran in the Air Force, reports Watts.

DC police chief Robert Contee also said that several MPD officers were injured, but are still working to help take control of the Capitol.

Contee also said that the protesters implanted “chemical irritants in the police” to gain access to the Capitol.
