Ogden police said a 41-year-old woman died on Saturday after her ex-boyfriend confronted her and shot her in Smith’s parking lot at 1485 Harrison Blvd.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, but was identified and found in front of a house on Block 900 on Maple Street. He had a semi-automatic weapon and refused to surrender, police said. Nearby houses have been evacuated. The suspect shot himself after “several hours’ negotiation” and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The police say there is no real threat to residents. The names of the victim and the suspect were not released.

Several neighbors live broadcast the standoff between the suspect and the Ogden Metro SWAT team on Facebook. Ogden residents who watched these videos commented that they were saddened by the victim and his family. The video made by a neighbor appears to show the suspect with a shot to the head.
