Woman buys $ 28,000 in groceries for needy neighbors

An Arkansas woman gave several shoppers a big surprise at two Kroger supermarkets in Little Rock and North Little Rock on Tuesday.

When Ashley Ann Jones heard about the long lines at the food banks and the impact the coronavirus pandemic had on people’s work, she decided to do something to help, according to KNWA.

“I was like, I’m going to buy groceries,” said Jones, adding, “Story after story about people getting fired, or licensed or simply lost.”

The video showed Jones, who is a local business owner and social media strategist, bagging people’s groceries at the Kroger checkout lines.

She bought $ 28,000 in groceries for unsuspecting and grateful buyers.

“It is very exciting to be in a position to do that. And I prefer to give the money directly to the community, ”said Jones.

“Many of these areas that I looked at, the communities are under-served and there were so many people who were there who were in shock. They didn’t believe it, ”she continued.

Instagram users praised Jones for his kindness and generosity, calling the gift “beautiful” and “thoughtful”.

“This is amazing. I love it so much. I didn’t think of that before. You inspired us to do that too one day, ”wrote one person.

“This is the BEST gift ever! I’m sure these families were very grateful! And how wonderful it must be to give a gift like that! Merry Christmas !!! “another commented.

Now Jones said he hopes his actions will inspire others to give back to needy members of his own community during Christmas and beyond.

“But you do what you can where you are,” she commented, adding that she is looking forward to doing something like that for her neighbors again in the near future.
