With one season of eligibility remaining, quarterback Jack Coan will be moved from Wisconsin to Notre Dame

Former Wisconsin quarterback Jack Coan is moving to Notre Dame, he announced Monday night.

“Extremely grateful for the opportunity. Let’s work! @NDFootball,” wrote Coan on Twitter. He will have one remaining eligibility season.

Coan, who started 18 games for Wisconsin in 2018-2019, suffered a foot injury at the preseason camp and underwent an operation. He did not appear in any games while Graham Mertz and Chase Wolf took care of the defender’s duties.

The £ 1.80m and £ 221 Coan entered the NCAA transfer portal last month. Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book, a three-year-old titleholder, is expected to move on to the NFL draft, although he has not officially announced his decision. The Irish return with quarterbacks Drew Pyne and Brendon Clark, and bring Tyler Buchner, ESPN number 7 and player number 39 in the 2021 recruiting class.

Coan completed 68% of his passes for 3,278 yards with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions in Wisconsin. He completed a team record of 236 passes in 2019, helping the Badgers to a Big Ten West Division title. Coan completed almost 70% of his passes and posted the third highest total pass (2,727 yards) in the team’s history.

Notre Dame is due to face Wisconsin on September 25 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
