A woman serving in the Wisconsin Air National Guard was one of two victims killed in a minor plane crash in the state last week, according to reports.
The second victim was an Air Force reservist.
Sgt. From team Remington K. Viney, 26, was flying in a twin-engine Velocity V-Twin with Tanner Byholm, 25, when the plane crashed in a swampy, wooded area just after takeoff from Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in the morning As of last Tuesday, Rock O County Medical Examiner’s Office said, according to FOX 6 in Milwaukee.
No one else was on board the plane bound for Florida.
Viney was a designated airman for the Wisconsin National Air Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Sergeant Remington K. Viney, a valuable member of the 115th Hunting Wing,” the wing posted on its Facebook page.
The wing said she joined the National Air Guard in 2013 and was a decorated veteran who was sent to Japan and South Korea.

“It was no secret that Sergeant Viney had a passion for flying,” continued the post. “She obtained her private pilot license and worked as a flight instructor. Sergeant Viney struggled to progress and excel in his life and career. … Sergeant Viney was an American aviator model loved by many and will be sorely missed. . “
Byholm was an Air Force Reserve pilot and had been a Navy reservist, according to his obituary.

“He was a person who, when you first met him, was attracted to his presence,” said his obituary. “He thought of everyone in his life and will be remembered by everyone who met him.” Flying was also his passion, said the obituary.
Officials in Rock County, Wisconsin, said the pair reported a problem with the plane before losing contact with the tower, FOX 11 said in Green Bay. It is unclear who was flying the plane.
Both pilots were from Wisconsin, FOX 6 reported.
