Wisconsin COVID-19 vaccine registration for launch on March 1
The state is marking two promising milestones this week in its launch of the COVID-19 vaccine. As coronavirus cases remain at levels we haven’t seen since last September.
MADISON, Wis. – The state is marking two promising milestones this week with the launch of the COVID-19 vaccine. As coronavirus cases remain at levels we haven’t seen since last September.
For the first time in the launch of the COVID-19 vaccine in the state, the number of people who received the second injection on Thursday exceeded the number of people who received the first.

“So, let’s all remember our good vaccinators who are doing due diligence to get their second doses too,” said DHS Deputy Secretary Julie Willems van Dijk.
That was after the state exceeded one million total doses administered on Wednesday.
Wisconsin’s weekly distribution from the federal government is also expected to grow.
“Next week, we will have 115,000 doses – first doses – to distribute to our vaccinators. This represents a 64% increase over mid-January,” she said.
DHS COVID-19 vaccine update
Wisconsin health officials provide an update on the state’s COVID-19 vaccine.
Willems van Dijk estimates that 50% of people aged 65 and over will be vaccinated by March 1, when the state will open up the vaccine’s eligibility to other essential workers. She says that tracking this new group will bring new challenges.
“We will not know exactly who will be vaccinated in the coming weeks – who is an educator, who is a grocery worker, who is a utility worker,” she said.
At the same time, the state will launch the Wisconsin COVID-19 vaccine registry, an online tool to help residents make an appointment for vaccines at a location close to them. Those who are not yet eligible are placed on a waiting list.
Ten different public health agencies will test the software next week, including Racine and Waukesha counties and the city of Wauwatosa.
Only local and tribal health departments will be able to participate in registration in March.
On April 1, the registration software will be open to all other vaccinators in the state.
Vaccinators can choose to join.
Increased demand for contractors causing delays, WI build-ups
In the past year, many of our homes have also become our workplaces, schools and daycare centers. These demands make many people look to change some things in their homes, such as adding a home office. They will probably wait a while.
