Winter weather causes major travel delays from Houston airport

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Hundreds of outbound flights were canceled or delayed on Sunday at Houston airports due to strong cold wind and snow in other areas.

In the video above, some photos show thawing of planes taking off and taxing at the airport. The winter storm is affecting Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the country, and causing major disruptions to travel across the country.

Both George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport are experiencing delays.

Due to weather conditions at DFW airport, Houston airports are experiencing two hour and 59 minute departure delays.

Delays in departing for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport are also experiencing delays of an average of 58 minutes.

As for taxi delays at Houston airports, delays are currently around 15 minutes or less.
