COLOMBIA, SC – With a total that improved her position as the third highest scoring pentathlete in school history, Annika Williams finished third in the women’s pentathlon Friday at the South Carolina Invitational and Joseph Jardine is eighth in the men’s heptathlon with three races remaining on Saturday.
According to the need for the general athletics required in the pentathlon, Williams was among the first three, among the 14 competitors on the field, in three of the five events. With a point scale for each event, the second-year student from Calvert, Texas, totaled 3809 points, his career record, finishing third overall.
Williams started the day by finishing sixth in the 60 meters hurdles with a time of 8.90 seconds, gaining 931 points. She won the high jump by tying her best personal performance with a jump of 5’9.75 “/ 1.77m, adding 941 points. Third place in the shot put (39’6.75” / 12.06m) it was a personal record – by more than a foot – and doubled by 665 points. An 18’6.5 “/ 5.65m jump in the long jump was the second best of the day, providing 744 points. She finished in 11º place in the 800m race (2: 44.01), earning 528 points.
Jardine started the day with second place in the 60m dash (7.13 seconds) and long jump (22’3.5 “/ 6.79m). He continued with eighth place in the shot put (37’4.5 “/ 11.39m) and finished with 5’8.1” / 1.73m in the high jump, seventh place. Overall, the junior from Mohrsville, Pa., Is in eighth place with 2,739 points and three remaining races in the Saturday.

Below are the results of the Kentucky event for the meeting.
Fourteen teams are expected at the event, including Alabama, Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, Furman, Kentucky, North Carolina A&T, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and South Carolina. Eight of the women’s teams are qualified nationally, featuring No. 3 Georgia, No. 9 Alabama, No. 15 Clemson, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 18 Ole Miss, No. 19 Florida and No. 21 Auburn, along with the Wildcats. Five men’s teams are in the top 25, including No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 North Carolina A&T, No. 9 Georgia, No. 15 Alabama and the United Kingdom.
Saturday starts at 9 am with the conclusion of the heptathlon events, followed by a complete list of athletics competitions starting at 11 am. The Carolina Indoor Track & Field Facility is the meeting place. It is the UK’s first trip to the facility, which opened in 2019.
