The Willamette Valley is now under a wind alert that warns of gusts reaching 72 km / h, meteorologists say.
The advisory, which covers the Willamette Valley and the Portland and Vancouver areas, runs from 4:00 pm to midnight on Saturday. Meteorologists expect winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts of up to 45 mph.
The National Meteorological Service said that gusts of wind could blow around unprotected items and that tree branches could be knocked down. Widespread power outages may also occur, according to the agency.
The weather service urged drivers – especially those operating high-end vehicles – to take extra care. The agency also asked people to guarantee external items.
