Will Tigers be able to become the 5-star QB Gunner Stockton?

Could Clemson football become the 5 star QB Gunner Stockton?

The quest for building into the future never ends for the Clemson football program and many Tiger fans are wondering about a certain 5-star quarterback.

The 5-star 2020 QB Gunner Stockton announced his withdrawal from the University of South Carolina earlier this week following the move of Gamecock’s offensive coordinator, Mike Bobo, to Auburn.

South Carolina had a flurry of technical assistants who left for Auburn last week and new coach Shane Beamer is certainly not getting off to a fantastic start after the departure of coaches, players and appointments.

Stockton had a close relationship with Bobo and that was the reason for his commitment to South Carolina. Now, with Bobo in Auburn, it is hoped that we can see Stockton promise a new commitment, this time with the Tigers in Alabama.

Is there any chance that Clemson football will get involved in your recruitment?

At this point, there is no indication that Clemson’s technical football team has plans to become heavily involved in recruiting Stockton, although everything is subject to change.

The Tigers offered two quarterbacks in the 2022 class and, from all that has been said, they are focused on earning the commitment of one of these two potential customers.

Clemson is fine with 4-star QB Ty Simpson, which is rated the No. 2 double threat QB in the country, and the Tigers also offered 4-star QB Braden Davis, which is rated the No. 7 dual-threat QB . Both rankings are in line with the rankings composed of 247 Sports players.

Unless something changes, Tiger fans should take their eyes off of Stockton and place them on these two individuals, in particular Simpson.

There is a solid chance that Simpson will be promoted to a 5 star before his recruitment ends. He has a little ‘Johnny Manziel’ (on the field) in it with his shuffling skills and it will be interesting to see how it develops and moves on to the next level. Currently, the main competition for its services appears to be Tennessee and potentially Alabama.

In conclusion, can we say for sure that the Tigers will not go after Gunner Stockton – which is basically already being considered a commitment to Auburn – at this point? No. But it seems much more likely that Clemson will focus on those two names, and potentially another one will be added to the mix before it’s all said and done.
