Will Smith says he will ‘consider’ running for political office ‘at some point’

Will Smith does not rule out running for political office “at some point”.

The actor – best known for his roles in “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “Men In Black” – said in a new interview that he is not opposed to entering the world of public office.

“I think for now, I’m going to let this office get a little clean and then I’ll consider that at some point in the future,” said Smith, 52, on the “Pod Save America Podcast”.

The actor went on to say that he plans to “certainly do my part, be it artistic or, at some point, venture into the political arena”.

Smith also discussed his experiences with racism and shared that he was called “fix or six times” with the word N.

“Fortunately for my psyche, I was never called an N word by an intelligent person. So I grew up with the impression that racists and racism are stupid and easy to get around, I just had to be smarter,” he shared.

He said that as soon as he started in Hollywood, he began to notice “a difference between ignorance and evil”.

“Ignorance is more prevalent than blatant evil, so I have always been encouraged that the process of education and understanding could alleviate some of the most dangerous and difficult aspects of racism that are unfortunately embedded in our country’s very fibers,” he said.

Smith is currently promoting his new Netflix series, “Amend: The Fight For America.”
