Muschamp played as a defensive player in Georgia from 1991-94. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree from UGA, Muschamp was an undergraduate assistant at Terry Bowden at Auburn from 1995-96. Muschamp ended up returning to the SEC in 2001, when Nick Saban hired him as a linebacker trainer at LSU. He was promoted to defensive coordinator the following season and moved with Saban to the NFL on the Miami Dolphins team in 2005.
