According to AJC, former South Carolina and Florida coach Will Muschamp has been working with Georgia football in an unknown capacity in recent weeks.
“The former South Carolina coach has been in and out of the Bulldogs’ highly secure football complex every day this week and parked in a spot at the Butts-Mehre Building. What he has done in the intervening hours is unknown. “
UGA alum (1991-1994) was fired by the Gamecocks after a five-year stent in Columbia, ending with a 28-30 overall record.
Prior to South Carolina, Muschamp was Auburn’s defensive coordinator in 2015 and prior to that, he coached the Florida Gators from 2011 to 2014, ranging from 28 to 21 during his time in Gainesville.
Muschamp’s links to UGA and the Georgia football team are well known.
Coach Kirby Smart and Muschamp are friends and have worked together several times during their coaching careers, including time at Valdosta State, LSU and the Miami Dolphins.
Muschamp’s son Jackson Muschamp joined the Georgia program as a defender last season.
Although the Bulldogs hired defensive coordinator Dan Lanning, coach of internal linebackers Glen Schumann attracted LSU’s interest in his position as open defensive coordinator and Georgia is currently without a defensive coach when Charlton Warren left Athens to take over as coordinator. defensive in Indianna.
Muschamp played security in Georgia and trained defenders several times during his 25-year coaching career.
There is still no confirmation of Muschamp’s work with the UGA Athletics program.
