Will Deshaun Watson ask for an exchange?

The Texans have suggested that they will hear quarterback Deshaun Watson when hiring a coach. But what if they didn’t hire the person for whom he would like to be trained?

Rumors are already circulating, and we’ve heard from a number of different people, that Watson quietly discussed with teammates the possibility of requesting an exchange. If this is happening, it may just be a strategic effort to ensure that your views are respected by the property. Regardless, this raises the stakes and crosses a bridge and potentially lays the foundation for Watson to eventually decide that he would like to continue his career elsewhere.

We can already hear the reaction. “He just signed a new contract, the ceiling would be paralyzing!

Take a look at the contract. Negotiating it would result in a maximum cost of $ 21.6 million. The amount of Herschel-sized picks that a Deshaun Watson negotiation would generate would be more than justification.

It is too early to think about where it would potentially be traded. It is not too early to make a list of teams that would possibly claim for him. The Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Raiders, Broncos, Washington, Eagles, Bears, Lions, Saints, Panthers, Falcons, Buccaneers (if Tom Brady is one and done) and 49ers are the most obvious.

Other teams that apparently don’t need a quarterback should at least consider upgrading.

When the Texans decide on their next coach (and it will likely be someone represented by Bob LaMonte, for reasons that will be discussed later today), keep an eye out for the possibility that Watson will respond by making him known in private, and possibly publicly, that he is ready to move on and leave.
