A wife was arrested after an alleged attack on her husband at 7-Eleven in Colony Plaza in The Villages.

Debbie Matatt, 50, of Wildwood, was in the driver’s seat of a white Kia van around 7:30 am on Wednesday, when the fight with her husband was spotted by video surveillance, according to an arrest report from the Sheriff’s Office of the Sheriff’s Office. Sumter County.

The husband told police that he feared his wife would leave him out of the van. He reached out and tried to park the vehicle, but his wife resisted the effort and kept the van moving. The husband tried to get out of the van, and while he was leaving, she grabbed his shirt. Matatt, who weighs 136 kilograms, pushed her husband twice.

The husband got out of the van and called 911. Matatt also got out of the van and walked behind the 7-Eleven building. The husband showed deputies three scratches on the back, allegedly caused by his wife. The officers located Matatt and took her into custody.

The Charleston, Illinois, native was arrested on charges of assault and charged at Sumter County Detention Center, where she was initially held without bail.
