Why the Seahawks elevated Penny Hart from the training team to Rams

The Los Angeles Rams arrives in the city with the lead at NFC West on the line on Sunday. When the two teams take the field, the Rams will face a Seattle Seahawks team that will not only be helped by the return of Greg Olsen and Bryan Mone from the injured reserves, but that has the benefit of extra depth in the wide receiver.

Penny Hart, of course, was released earlier this week to make room on the 53-player roster for Josh Gordon, only for the Hawks to see the league revoke their conditional reinstatement. While Gordon’s status remains in the air, Hart canceled his resignations and the Seahawks were able to bring him back to the training team.

Having spent the previous 15 weeks in the active squad, Hart had not yet been elevated this season and should be eligible to be elevated again in Week 17 if the team decides not to move him back to the active squad.

This news means that the Seahawks have 54 players in the squad and that means we will see six inactive for Sunday’s NFC West title rematch.
