Why Meghan Markle, Prince Harry is unlikely to return to real life: expert

It looks like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are happy where they are.

Exactly a year ago, the royal duo announced their intention to “step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family”, and they did not look back.

After the historic transition, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, 36 and 39, respectively, paved the way in an effort to “become financially independent” and moved to California. They plunged headlong into the entertainment world by signing a production contract with Netflix and launching a podcast on Spotify – not to mention Markle’s narrative work on a Disney + documentary.

When the deal between Harry and his royal contemporaries – widely known as “Megxit” – was struck, the pair renounced their HRH titles and reportedly agreed to revisit their royal status after a year.

The official real-life transition took place in March 2020, so with the anniversary approaching, a question arises: Will Harry and Markle return to real life?

“The general consensus is that this ‘divorce’ worked,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight. “Meghan and Harry left the royal family to become independent, to become financially independent. They achieved that for sure this year. They can now look back a year and probably celebrate their decision.”

Despite the deadline for a decision to arrive, Nicholl said there will be no “formal” meeting between Harry and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, as that was never part of the plan.

“Yes, there would always be a year of probation, but this was an ongoing year,” added Nicholl. “This is a year that Harry communicates regularly with his grandmother. The general feeling is that the couple is complying with the terms of the agreement.”

When the Sussex announced their plan to refuse, they clearly stated that they wish to continue to “fully support Her Majesty the Queen”, which they have accomplished, said Nicholl, explaining that the discussions are “ongoing” with young royalty status “since they left the royal family.”

While Harry and his grandmother communicate regularly, they are still working to resolve the “notable” issue of their military titles, which Nicholl said needs “to be fixed”.

Last year, Harry was stripped of his honorary military titles:

  • Captain General of the Royal Marines
  • Honorary Air Force Commander at Honington Royal Air Force Base
  • Honorary Chief Commodore of the Royal Navy Small Ships and Dive Operations

He served 10 years in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces (the UK version of the Army) and rose to the rank of captain and did two missions in Afghanistan. Much of his charitable work has been in support of military colleagues.

“In terms of the sponsorship portfolio and charities, as far as the couple is concerned, they plan to continue working with these sponsorships and charities as they did last year,” said the expert. “So when problems arise, they will be resolved.”

Nicholl feels that the two “have taken their roots in LA” and that their entertainment endeavors have traced their “financial future”.

“The suggestion that they are going back to the royal family is simply not going to happen,” she told the channel.

The decision to stay out of real life may be partly because “Harry wanted a way out for a long time.”

The royal observer said, “Don’t forget that this is a prince who was born spare, who always had to play the second violin for his brother [Prince William]. “noting what she believes” Meghan was a catalyst for a new life for him. She really gave him the confidence to say, ‘OK, there is another way.’ “

“It was no secret” that Harry and Markle “were not happy” in the UK, so they took a “leap of faith” for a “very exciting adventure”, as Nicholl said.

“I don’t think there are any regrets … They are excited about this year, very excited about this chapter in their lives, are loving their new lives in LA and are very happy,” she said.

Although they found happiness outside of real life, they still want to see Harry’s family in the new year “if COVID allows it”.

“[June 2021] it will also mark the 100th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh, which will be a big celebration here in the UK, “Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight.” I know that Harry, he is very close to his grandparents, would not want to miss an occasion like this. “

Summer will also be the stage for the opening of a statue dedicated to Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, in which the prince “absolutely” wishes to be present.

“I think the plan is for him to stay here, possibly for a long summer. But, of course, all of these plans are subject to change because of the COVID-19 situation. No one knows whether they will really be able to travel,” explained Nicholl .
