This season has been one of ups and downs for the Dallas Mavericks and it doesn’t look like things are going to get any better. Luka Doncic is one of the best overall talents in the NBA and is in a lot of discussion for the league’s MVP, but outside of that, this team doesn’t have much production.

The return of Kristaps Porzingis after recovering from a knee injury was very necessary, but he doesn’t seem to be 100% off the court yet. As Porzingis is not yet his true All-Star and the Mavericks as a team really fighting, they will need to make a big move towards the negotiation deadline if they are to have any chance of reaching their full potential this year.

Buddy Hield is an interesting name that keeps popping up in rumors about NBA negotiations recently, and while there have been no negotiations between the Mavericks and Kings, Hield can be a player that attracts a lot of interest around the NBA’s negotiation deadline.

Last year, there were some discussions about the Kings’ desire to exchange Buddy Hield because of the negativity he was causing within the organization and the disagreement he would cause between other players and the coaching staff, but nothing materialized and it seemed that the two sides shuffled things off-season.

However, there is still some tension between the Kings and Hield and it can explode at any time. Seeing that the Kings are playing very well now and are very involved in the playoff conversation in the Western Conference, they may postpone negotiations for their main players, but the Mavericks must be very persistent in their search for Buddy Hield.

With that said, let’s take a look at three reasons why the Dallas Mavericks should do everything to acquire Buddy Hield.
