Why Kate Middleton wears pink clothes after the interview with Meghan Markle: the psychologist’s view

The Duchess of Cambridge has been wearing pink outfits after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview at Oprah to appear “kind and convey kindness,” according to a psychologist.

Kate, 39, wore a pink blouse during an appearance hours after her sister-in-law claimed the two women had had a tearful confrontation days before the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2018.

A mother of three, Kate then wore a pink £ 65 sweater from Boden on her first personal engagement of the year yesterday – just four days after her in-laws told everything about Oprah Winfrey, in which they revealed the extent of their feud with real family.

The duchess’s recent color trend suggests wanting to ‘reduce feelings of anger and resentment’ as well as ‘convey kindness and understanding in a non-threatening way’, according to Lancashire psychologist Lee Chambers.

He told FEMAIL: ‘Dressing in pink can represent a number of feelings. As a color, it combines elements of red, such as affection, and aspects of white, such as purity.

‘The symbolism of wearing pink suggests that Kate wants to feel adorable and also listened. Like a color, it conveys kindness and understanding in a non-threatening way, which is a message that she wants to communicate at the moment.

He continued: ‘Using pink can also affect our emotions, reduce feelings of anger and resentment and promote tranquility and feelings of empathy, powerful in times of instability and sensitivity.

“Pink as a color has a discouraging effect, attenuating strong emotions and softening stronger feelings, especially negative ones. This is especially powerful when we cover ourselves with color for the first time. ‘

The psychologist also noted that Kate may be wearing pink ‘due to the pleasant memories associated with the color, giving her a feeling of comfort’.

Likewise, celebrity stylist Rochelle White said: ‘Potentially in Kate’s situation, wearing pink may mean that she is trying to show her sweet, pleasant and playful side after Megan’s interview.

‘Pink portrays a number of things like charming, feminine and tenderness and, due to the way she was portrayed in Megan and Harry’s interview, she may be trying to say something with her fashion in a subtle way.’

The stylist also suggested that the duchess could use the fun color during recent appearances to improve her own mood.

“When using these colors, I think she feels good and comes in the spring in a positive way. I think it helps you feel better and shows you are in a good place, ‘said Rochelle.

Meghan said in her interview with Oprah Winfrey that she experienced more negativity towards her than the Duchess of Cambridge because of the color of her skin.

In the explosive interview, Meghan also spoke about her relationship with the Duchess of Cambridge, and said Kate made her cry when the two clashed in a bridesmaids’ test just before she married Prince Harry, 36.

Reports of the bitter feud between the duchesses first appeared in November 2018, when sources said Meghan did not like the ‘stressful’ test.

The Duchess of Sussex also insisted that she has already forgiven Kate, who she said bought flowers to apologize for the incident.

The infamous fight with Prince William’s wife made headlines around the world after an alleged argument over dresses for florists.

Reports differ as to whether the cause of the fight was a disagreement over whether bridesmaids should wear pantyhose – Meghan, it was reported, believed they shouldn’t – or whether it was because Princess Charlotte’s dress did not fit.

Meghan was also asked about a memorable joint departure for Wimbledon in July 2019, where the two came together and were photographed laughing together.

During the interview she seemed to cast doubt on the authenticity of that seemingly affable appearance, saying: ‘Nothing is as it seems’.

Reports circulated before the Sussex nuptials that Meghan left Kate in tears in the fitting of Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress.

But Meghan told Oprah that the ‘reverse happened’.

Meghan said he was not sharing the information to be ‘derogatory’, but added that it was ‘very important for people to understand the truth’.

“She is a good person,” added the Duchess.

‘Waity Katie’ jibe ‘is not the same as racism’

Meghan said her treatment by the press cannot be compared to Kate being called ‘Waity Katie’ because ‘it is not the same as racism’.

The Duchess of Sussex said she believed she was chosen because “she was not just British”. She said: ‘I think the volume of what was coming in and the interest was greater because of social media, the fact that I was not just British …

‘If they can compare the experience I went through was similar to what was shared with us, Kate was called Waity Katie, waiting to marry William.

‘Although I imagine it was difficult, and I think, I cannot imagine how it was, it is not the same thing.’

When asked if he remains close to William, he replied: ‘I love William too much. He is my brother.

– We’ve been through hell together. I mean, we have a shared experience. But we are on different paths. ‘
