Why is Michael Strahan at home? ‘Good Morning America’ host tests positive for COVID

Michael Strahan, host of the Pro Football Hall of Famer and “Good Morning America”, tested positive for COVID-19 and is in quarantine.

“We know that you noticed that Michael was not here with us this week. He wanted us to let you know that his test was positive for COVID. He is quarantined at home,” said anchor Robin Roberts when opening ‘GMA’ on Thursday.

Anchor George Stephanopoulos said Strahan is grateful for all those who reached out and gave their good luck.

“He is also feeling well and looking forward to coming back here soon,” said Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulos said that everyone who works in the ‘GMA’, on and off camera, has been released by Disney to be in the studio after contact tracking following CDC guidelines.

Roberts said he has been texting Strahan, who says his dog Enzo keeps him warm.

Strahan, who also provides reviews on the pre-game program “Fox NFL Sunday”, appeared remotely during the NFC championship game last Sunday. Strahan, however, has also made remote appearances for much of the season for Thursday night’s network games to avoid conflict with his “GMA” schedule.
Strahan, 49, has been absent from ABC’s morning show all week and it is unclear when he will be back.

He has been on “Good Morning America” since 2016 and has been a constant presence on Fox’s NFL coverage since he retired after the New York Giants won the third of their four Super Bowl titles during the 2007 season. .
