Why DT Snacks Harrison asked Seattle Seahawks to be released

On Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks have a chance to secure their first NFC western division title since 2016, when they face the Los Angeles Rams, however, even if they win, it looks like they could miss a major acquisition this season.

It appears that Bryan Mone’s return from the injured reserve pushed Damon Snacks Harrison to fourth place on the depth table in defensive tackle. In addition, with several players in the big final position who can reduce from the inside when passing down, like LJ Collier and Rasheem Green, the Seahawks have maintained a rotation that included only three defensive tackles active on the day of play, and that pushed Harrison where he was scheduled to be inactive against the Rams on Sunday.

Snacks himself went on Twitter to confirm the complaint, so it looks like Harrison could have a new home later this week if a team claims his exemption.

Another option for Harrison, however, may be to try to force his way through waivers in order to sign with the team of his choice. Harrison turned down proposals from both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers, and he could be added to either of those teams or even to the postseason training team.
