The first person who announced to rock the stage at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida was the “Blinding Lights” artist, The Weeknd.

The artist, whose real name is Abel Tesfae, was confirmed in November as the interpreter of this year’s Halftime Show. The three-time Grammy-winning artist will do his best to fill the place he left behind after Jennifer Lopez and Shakira took the stage in 2020.

“The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show is one of the most anticipated performances of the year and we are excited to host The Weeknd on stage,” said Todd Kaplan, Pepsi’s vice president of marketing, in a press release obtained by Fox News.

“Pepsi has worked with some of the greatest music artists over the years – from Prince to Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and, more recently, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. After a year without live music, we can’t wait to watch O Weeknd transforms the biggest stage in the world with its unlimited talent and creativity, delivering what will certainly be an unforgettable performance that will be remembered in the coming years ”, he added.

“The Weeknd had a sound of its own. Its poignant uniqueness defined a new generation of greatness in music and art,” said Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter, who runs Roc Nation, executive co-producer on the show for the second half.

“This is an extraordinary moment and the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show will be an extraordinary experience with an extraordinary artist,” he added.

Although The Weeknd did not announce which songs he will play, he most recently released the album “After Hours” in 2020.

Country singer Eric Church announced on January 19th that he will join forces with 12-Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jazmine Sullivan to play the “Star-Spangled Banner” before the big game.

As the CMT notes, this will be the first time since 2017 that the national anthem has been played by a country artist when Luke Bryan performed at NRG Stadium in Houston. There was an even bigger gap before Bryan when Carrie Underwood sang the song in Miami at the 2010 game.

Church, 10 times a Grammy nominee, released his debut album in 2006 and topped the country charts with songs like “Drink In My Hand”, “Springsteen”, “Talladega” and “Record Year”. He released several multiplatinum and platinum albums and was voted artist of the year at last year’s Country Music Association Awards.

Sullivan, however, rose to the top of the R&B charts in 2008 with his first single and album. She won 12 Grammy nominations and wrote songs for Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson and Monica. Her new album, “Heaux Tales”, debuted at number four on this week’s Billboard 200 album chart of all genres.

The duo follows Demi Lovato, who sang the song at the 2020 show.

In addition to Church and Sullivan bringing a dose of patriotism to the event, the NFL announced that HER, twice a Grammy winner, will be present to present her version of “America the Beautiful”.

“HER joins award-winning and critically acclaimed artists, America the Beautiful, such as: Yolanda Adams, Leslie Odom Jr, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo, Jasmine Cephas Jones and Alicia Keys,” said the organization in its announcement.

HER won two Grammys in 2019 and was critically acclaimed for her live performances, including her work as a guitarist. She won awards at the MTV Video Music Awards, BET Awards and Soul Train Music Awards and launched R&B hits such as “Focus”, “Best Part”, “Slide”, “Damage” and “BS” with Jhené Aiko.

Warren “WAWA” Snipe

Writer, rapper and performer Warren “WAWA” Snipe will be available to help people sing the national anthem and “America the Beautiful” by presenting the songs alongside them in American sign language.

Snipe, who is deaf, was announced alongside the other trio. He will work with Adam Blackstone, who will perform the two songs.

The NFL announced on Monday that Miley Cyrus will headline the NFL TikTok Tailgate pre-match program. The star will perform live for the 7,500 health professionals who were vaccinated against the coronavirus before the event.

“I’ll be there for TIKTOK TAILGATE! I can’t wait to give the NFL guests of honor a show before the game … Healthcare professionals from Tampa and across the country!” the star wrote on Instagram to announce the news.

Parts of Cyrus’ performance will be televised on the game’s main broadcast on CBS before the big game. The entire show can be seen on the popular video sharing app. In addition, the organization promises that the TikTok Tailgate show will offer a special surprise from the NFL, TikTok celebrities and musical guests to join the singer.

Like The Weeknd, Cyrus released her latest album “Plastic Hearts” in 2020. However, it is unclear which of her many career hits is she planning to play at the event.
