The White House is aware of the turmoil in GameStop’s actions – and says officials are eyeing the recent frenzy in commercial activities.
“Our economic team, including Secretary Yellen and others, is monitoring the situation,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Wednesday.
Ms. Psaki added that the rise in the stock market was a reminder of how markets do not necessarily reflect the health of the economy in general.
“It doesn’t reflect how working and middle-class families are doing,” she said.
