The White House released a weekly speech by President Biden, reviving a presidential tradition that was interrupted under the old President Trump

The first installment was launched on Saturday morning on social media, with the president taking the opportunity to tout the $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package he is trying to pass in Congress.
“We are putting together a plan that provides emergency aid to people who are in desperate need right now,” he said in the recorded segment. “Everything from mortgage payments to unemployment insurance, rent subsidies and food security for children. Biden’s inaugural address featured a conversation between the president and a woman identified as Michele Voelkert, 47, who lives in Roseville, California, and lost her job at a start-up clothing company due to the pandemic. She had written a letter to Biden to discuss her dismissal, which she said was the first time she was fired.
“Working is part of who you are,” says Biden in a clip of their conversation on social media. “The idea that we think we can keep companies open, moving and prospering without dealing with this pandemic is just an obstacle.”
“I admire your sense of responsibility and your desire to work,” he added.
Biden later spoke to Voelkert’s daughter, saying that she should be “very, very proud of her mother”.

It is unclear what the format of the talks will be in the future, but not all portions should be the same as the call between Biden and Voelkert.

The bill is another way for Biden, known for his use of retail policy, to maintain his communication with voters, even as the coronavirus pandemic forces Americans to stay at home and away from each other.
This program had been maintained in previous presidencies. Trump initially continued the tradition of a weekly speech, which started under former President Reagan, but stopped after about six months.
Former President Franklin Roosevelt was the first to make speeches famous with his chats by the fireplace, and later they were also used by former President Carter. Speeches became a more regular feature of the presidency, beginning with former President Clinton in the 1990s and were adopted by former presidents George. W. Bush and Obama.
