Yes, it will snow in Louisiana on Sunday and until early Monday. But for those who want a winter wonderland in the areas of Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette, no, it doesn’t look like the snow is going to get that far south, according to the office of the National Weather Service in Slidell.
According to the NWS forecast on Sunday morning, the chances of snow overnight are greater near the Louisiana-Mississippi border between 9 pm and midnight.
Sunday night, Monday morning, most of southern LA can expect cold rain. Places near and to the north of the state boundary can expect rain mainly, with the possibility of some snowflakes and / or hail mixing. The schedule will be from 2 am to 8 am. “I wouldn’t be totally shocked to see some snow, say in northern Wilkinson County, but for most of the area, it’s going to be very, very cold rain,” said the NWS forecast discussion.
The “very, very cold rain” is expected to end at noon on Monday for most of the area, but the sun is unlikely to return until Tuesday.
Measurable amounts of snow have fallen in parts of Texas and are forecast to fall in northern Louisiana, in the Shreveport and Monroe areas, where winter storm warnings are in effect.
