COVID-19 vaccine consultations are available to local residents aged 75 and over, as well as healthcare professionals, but each provider has its own registration system.
The Santa Bárbara County Department of Public Health is overseeing distribution to hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and their own vaccination sites, while federal pharmaceutical partnership programs provide vaccine doses to qualified nurses and assisted living facilities.
There are limited supplies of vaccine doses across the country and around the world, and public health officials expect to see an increase in deliveries in the coming months, especially as more vaccines are approved for use.
As of now, the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are being distributed in the municipality and both require two doses (of the same type) to be fully effective.
Everyone should receive the second dose at the same location as the first, according to county officials.
There are about 36,000 people aged 75 and over, so it will take weeks to get enough doses (two per person) to vaccinate all the eligible people they want. Health workers are still being vaccinated, and there are about 26,000 people in that group in the county.
As of Wednesday, the county was receiving about 6,000 doses of vaccine a week, with about 51,000 received so far. December deliveries were higher and mostly reserved for frontline healthcare professionals.

Everyone who signs up for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment must bring a photo ID and proof of residency in Santa Barbara County, which can be a photo ID if the address is local.
County officials note that people who are not eligible for a vaccine now should not make an appointment now.
“You will be rejected at the vaccine site,” says the county. “This takes the nomination of someone who is eligible and slows down the process for everyone.”

Vaccine suppliers in Lompoc
Lompoc Valley Medical Center is administering second doses to people who took their first dose there, and will begin scheduling more first dose appointments when more doses of vaccine are delivered, CEO Steve Popkin said on Friday in his message to the community.

Vaccine suppliers in Santa Bárbara e Goleta
Public Health Director Van Do-Reynoso said this week that Cottage Health and Sansum Clinic, two of the largest vaccine providers in the area, have 19,000 people on consultation waiting lists between them.
Cottage Health, which is running a vaccination post at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, said 13,000 people over 75 have signed up to receive consultation notifications.
“Within the priority group of 75 years or older, Cottage Health will open batches of consultations on an ongoing basis each week, sending notifications to groups in the order of their enrollment date on the COVID-19 Vaccine Contact List,” he said. it may take several weeks before you receive a notification to schedule. “

“When you log into MyChart, if an appointment is available, even in the distant future, schedule it as a placeholder and don’t consider it your final appointment. When our inventory increases, we will work to move commitments to the nearest available date. When scheduling a future appointment, we can notify you when previous appointments are available, ”says Clínica Sansum.
