PRE ORDER: Set for a February 24 release date, the new Ring Video Doorbell Wired is available for pre-order on Amazon and Ring.com for $ 59.99. (Add a ring for $ 20 more.)

The benefits of having a video doorbell have only increased in the last year: they give you the peace of mind of knowing exactly who is showing up at your door (which is valuable information, even if you spend most of your time at home) ), and make * the path * easier for safe, contactless deliveries and visits.

The Ring brand of home security and smart home from Amazon is one of the biggest names in the doorbell video game and, from next month, its convenience and protection will be more accessible than ever: the company announced this week that it will launch a new the doorbell will sell for just $ 59.99, which is $ 40 less than your standard video doorbell.

Video Doorbell Wired, as this new kid on the block is called, was released for February 24th and was already available for pre-order at selected retailers starting January 28th.

In addition to being the most accessible video bell so far, Video Doorbell Wired is also the smallestbut that does not mean that its functionality is limited, says the company. Quite the contrary, in fact: your HD 1080p camera comes equipped with night vision, advanced motion detection and customizable privacy zones, and a two-way noise-canceling conversation feature keeps conversations between you and your visitor (s) ) clear. Connect it to your phone (via the Ring App) or any Alexa enabled smart home device for real-time notifications whenever someone appears, announced or not.

As with any Ring video bell, you can choose to subscribe to a Ring Protect plan for the device to record all your videos and save the footage for up to 60 days for later review and sharing. (They are sold separately and start at $ 3 a month or $ 30 a year.)

The main difference between the wired video doorbell and other Ring offerings is exactly what is implied in its name: it needs to be connected to some existing doorbell cables. (Models like Video Doorbell Pro, Video Doorbell 3 and Video Doorbell Elite offer the option of wireless battery power.) Fortunately, setup is very easy: Ring says you can do DIY installation without the help of a professional using this guide or the Ring App using an included toolkit.

Please note that Ring Video Doorbell Wired will not ring the existing bell, so you will need a Ring Chime or a connected Alexa device to hear audio alerts when someone rings the bell.

Available in a sleek black finish, you can order it for $ 59.99. (The latter will offer a free 30-day trial of Ring Protect, FWIW.)
