CLEVELAND – Francisco Lindor once stopped by his locker and listed his favorite major league players to watch. One of the first names he offered was Eddie Rosario.
The two grew up about an hour apart in Puerto Rico and, over the past six years, have met regularly. Lindor was the heartbeat of the Indians. Rosario was the heartbreaker of the Indians.
Three weeks after Cleveland negotiated with Lindor for the Mets, they signed a $ 8 million contract with Rosario for a year, several sources told The Athletic.
On Friday morning, the club formalized its meeting with second baseman César Hernández. A source said the contract is worth $ 5 million for 2021, with a $ 6 million club option for 2022.
