If you’ve ever received a very long voice message on WhatsApp that you would like to be a little faster, WhatsApp has apparently listened to you.

The application is testing different playback speeds on iOS and Android, according to WABetaInfo. The agency identified the feature in a new update on Apple’s TestFlight beta program and the Google Play beta program in recent days. By WABetaInfo, there will be three playback speeds available on iOS and Android: 1.0x, 1.5x and 2.0x. The feature is currently under development and is not available to the general public.

In its report on the Android version, the store said users would be able to change the playback speed of a voice message by tapping the speed tag. You can check the screenshots of what the alleged feature would look like below.

As with other developments, it is not clear whether this will reach the mainstream. There is no set release date.

Well, I don’t know about all of you, but it is difficult to hear long voice messages from my friends. Often, some friends who love voicemails send me messages that are four, five, and even 15 minutes long. When I finish listening, it is sometimes difficult to remember the various topics they have mentioned. For your information, a good trick is to reply via text on WhatsApp while listening so as not to forget all the details of the voice message.

This does not mean that I am judging people who send long voice messages. I can’t, because I do it too. In fact, sometimes I play with my best friends (who are the only ones on Earth who are willing to listen to a 12-minute voice message from me) that I don’t send voice messages to them, I send them podcasts. For those who will inevitably ask why I just don’t care about my friends, it’s a time zone issue.

So, what do I think when I see the idea of WhatsApp for new playback speeds? I mean, I’m not going to say it’s a bad idea. Certainly there will be some people who will find it useful if it ever comes out. But if I get lost listening to long voice messages at normal playback speed, I can’t even imagine what it would be like if I increased that speed. And like, well, I’m not sure if I would laugh or be upset if my friends speed up the playback of my messages (although I don’t blame them, my messages are too long).

Unfortunately, each has its own speed of reproduction.
