What’s next for Big Sky’s evil?

Here’s what’s going on in the television world on Tuesday, January 26th. All times are from the east.

Best choice

Big sky (ABC, 10 pm, mid-season premiere): The last time we had a new episode of the return of David E. Kelley to the comfortable bosom of the television network on December 15, but, frankly, it seems much longer. (A lot has happened since then! It’s like we’re all aging in canine years!) So here’s a little update, courtesy of Recap of LaToya Ferguson of the busy end of the middle of the season. Details of the plot found inside, so proceed with caution if you haven’t already taken a look:

“A Good Day To Die” does the one thing that it really needs, which is to save the trio of girls. Again, it seems a little anticlimactic, since Cassie – who, of course, does the rescue – doesn’t even get visual confirmation from the girls in that scene. But at least the public knows, and they finally manage to breathe a sigh of relief over one aspect of the series. Two, if you’re counting Legarski’s death. Because as talented as John Carroll Lynch is and as disturbingly good as he is on this show, Montana State Trooper Rick Legarski is an overwhelming character. The show needed to kill him, especially to avoid (if he was arrested) using him as a crutch. (He can still appear in flashbacks, but this is very different.) … He died because he just had to be “The Big Rick”, taking charge to do the “right” thing.

Perhaps, now that you are renewed, you are wondering why the title of this article asks what will be done with The Big Rick. But John Carroll Lynch confirmed that we’ll see more of Legarski, probably in flashbacks – but who knows! LaToya passed the baton of recap to Allison Shoemaker, so look for his cover tonight.

Regular coverage

Let’s make an alternative adjective heaven, perhaps?

For kids

Go Dog Go (Netflix, 3:01, first full season): It is worth giving this one a chance just in the chance that your little son will at some point turn to you and say, “I don’t know, I think the book was better”, and then coo to all the excited dogs again.

Wild card

QAnon: shadows and lies (Vice, 10 pm, miniseries premiere): In case you are wondering why the hell certain members of Congress are waving their arms and screaming while they don’t wear masks, Vice helps you.
