What we need from a Nintendo Switch Pro

Rumors have long been circulating about an updated Nintendo Switch model. Although there were no official confirmations, it made us wonder: what else do we want to see on a Nintendo Switch Pro?

me once wrote that the main thing I want from a new switch is that they keep (or improve) the docked mode and that games that currently run slowly or leave the console too hot to touch to run faster or cooler. The Switch is fast becoming the indie paradise paradise that Vita and PSP were in their cousins, but the wave of recent PC ports and even some console releases show that the hardware is not fully capable of representing these things at its best manner. A performance improvement can really close that gap.

In addition, I would also like the Nintendo Switch Pro to look a little less fragile in portable mode. The size of the system already makes its portability questionable, so I would very much like to be able to throw it in a large bag or pocket without being hit by deadly fear. I’m not sure what that might require. Perhaps a Switch Lite-style review that keeps Joy-Cons connected and relies on players to have a backup controller or Joy-Cons for dock mode? – Josh

I think I would like to improve battery life above all else. In general, I am very happy with my switch! It is comfortable and easy to use. I have no problems with the current screen. It seems that I always need to have a power cord on hand. There is nothing more frustrating than relaxing to play cozy in bed, after realizing that it is 15% and the power cable is in the room. – Jenni

I don’t really like pushing technical specs, so for me, what can a Switch Pro offer? Backward compatibility is unlikely, however much I want to. New features would divide the player base. So, really, what I hope to see is the power to deliver more consistent gaming performance. The original Switch was already taxed by Breath of the Wild at launch, and subsequent multiplatform ports were a little unstable at times. It’s not exciting, but it would help. – Graham

There are two schools of thought when brainstorming on this topic: idealistic and realistic. Overall, I want to increase the processing power. I am not someone who thinks that a 4K, 120 FPS handheld device for just $ 400 makes some business sense. I’m fine with the 720p handheld device. I’m fine with 1080p on TV for this generation of Nintendo. Mostly, I just want my games to work better and look a little better. I desperately need Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity to run at a solid frame rate.

Most importantly, as someone who has sent their Joy-Con to service twice in four years, I want the drift design flaw to be fixed. And while we’re at it, change that D-pad and make it as good as the Wii U Pro Controller D-pad. I bet you didn’t expect to hear that one, did you? – Oni
