What to know Monday:
- The State Department of Health and Environmental Control on Sunday reported 2,228 new confirmed cases and 269 new probable cases of the new coronavirus, as well as 35 additional confirmed deaths and eight new probable deaths.
- This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 412,996, probable cases to 53,377, confirmed deaths to 6,849 and probable deaths to 802.
- State health officials last week stepped up efforts to vaccinate more people against COVID-19.
- On February 4, almost 29% of Southern Carolinians eligible for phase 1a received their first injection and nearly 7% received both doses.
