New free COVID-19 test site in Clemson opens today
Community members in the Clemson area will have a new location to try COVID-19 for free, starting today. The community test site, a collaboration between the city and the university, is moving to Nettles Park. The tests are free and use the Saliva PCR method, which is the “gold standard” of coronavirus tests, according to the professor who runs the testing laboratory at Clemson University.
The test site at the fire station was moved to protect city officials from exposure, a city statement said. “Please do not knock on the doors of the fire station substation or Parks and Recreation offices. All buildings in the city are closed to the public and city staff are not trained to answer the community’s COVID-19 test questions. In addition , contacting the city staff can potentially expose them to the virus. “
Sign up at https://www.clemson.edu/covid-19/testing/community.html, you must have a QR code to be tested. Rymedi, who performs the test, said that you should not eat or drink 30 minutes after the test. The Rymedi team will be on hand at Nettles Park to answer any other questions.
