Steph Curry hasn’t had a hot start this season.
The two-time NBA MVP hit 7 out of 21 on the field at the season opener against the Brooklyn Nets and 6 out of 17 overall against the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day.
He made 5 of 17 shots against the Los Angeles Clippers on January 6, and had a 2 to 16 clunker against the Toronto Raptors. And, of course, there was the Indiana Pacers blackjack on January 12th.
At some point during these frustrating moments, Curry talked to “coach mentor players” Leandro Barbosa.
“One thing I told him when he was having a hard time making pitches and doing the things he used to do, I said to him, ‘You have to be patient because this is a different environment, it’s a different team, different guys, ‘Barbosa said Tuesday morning on KNBR 680’s “Murph & Mac” program. “‘ It will be a while before you feel comfortable with the attack (and) with the guys who play with you. ‘
“And he said, ‘Yes, definitely. I’m going to need you [to remind him about that]. ‘I said,’ I’m here. I’m here for you. Do not worry about it. Just be patient and keep doing what you do. Practice the way you do … but sometimes you will have to be different in the way you play. ‘
“He doesn’t have Klay [Thompson], he doesn’t have Kevin Durant. So, most of the time [teams] will be doubling it. And this is what is happening. But he adjusted. He’s still Steph, man. “

The three-time NBA champion has been incredible in the last nine games, averaging 27.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.2 steals, while shooting 50.6 percent overall and 45 , 8 percent in the 3-point range.
“Follow my normal kicking patterns better as the season progresses in general,” said Curry after the Warriors’ victory over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. “But I’m definitely getting a lot more comfortable finding that balance – knowing what kind of pictures we’re going to take and which ones I can take and take.
“I never lose confidence in that, but you start to have a flow and you can take it from game to game, and you start to feel really good.”
