What is the most impractical car you have driven every day?

Usually, the best practice is to buy a car that fits your life, not one that you need to reorganize to make the adjustment. Sometimes, however, things don’t work out that way. Sometimes your love for a car is so deep and deep that you are willing to upset yourself and, occasionally, your family and friends to make the relationship work.

I cannot say that I personally have a great example of this in my relatively short car ownership history, although I will say that the Fiesta ST I currently drive is certainly the closest answer I have to this question. Yes, it’s a hatchback with four doors, which seems very practical at first. At this point, however, I’ve already traveled around the country and racing at wholesale stores that shatter enough vertebrae to know that a car that’s a little too small and hard can be very inconvenient at key times when you need them to be anything but. At least it tends to get me out of the designated driver roles because nobody wants to be stuck in the back seat.

The answer I would you like having this question, however, is none other than the GR Yaris. I would love nothing more than to have an even smaller and less practical hatchback ruining my life, for the simple reason that it is a rally homologation special. I could take all the shit if only Toyota gave me the chance.

So, what absolutely impractical and inhospitable car did you try to live with, and how did this imperfect relationship work?
