What happened to all the Chicago Bears QB made in the first round?

Imagine not catching a defender in the first round for more than 30 years. Chicago took BYU’s quarterback with the 5th overall choice. McMahon undoubtedly could have been the greatest defender since Luckman, and he already led the club to a Super Bowl victory at the end of the 1985 season. However, he was struck with the body by the Green Bay Packers defensive lineman, Charles Martin in 1986, which made a rotator cuff injury even worse. He never started more than nine games in the rest of his career in Chicago, which ended in the off-season of 1989 after a fight with coach Mike Ditka and the estate.

McMahon was traded to San Diego Chargers, where he spent a season. In 1990, he joined the Philadelphia Eagles, where former Bears defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan was the coach. In 1991, McMahon produced an 8-3 record by replacing injured Randall Cunningham. In 1993, he fell with the Minnesota Vikings and compiled an 8-4 mark. The following season, he met Ryan with the Arizona Cardinals. McMahon’s last two seasons were on Brett Favre’s reserve with the Packers, winning a second Super Bowl ring after the 1996 season.
