Mets owner Steve Cohen started a dialogue with Mets fans on Friday night, asking a simple question:

“What do you think Lindor will accept? ‘ Cohen tweeted. “I will crowdsource the answer.”

Francisco lindor and Mets is said to have started contract extension negotiations, with the superstar shortstop setting an Opening Day deadline for all negotiations to come to a conclusion, saying it will not discuss its contract during the regular season.

The 27-year-old, acquired by Mets in this off-season in a highly successful negotiation with the Cleveland Indians, is set to become a free agent after the 2021 season.

With Cohen logging on to Twitter to discuss Lindor’s situation, some fans have assumed that a shortstop deal should be imminent. Cohen responded by saying “In this case, no.”

SNY MLB Insider Andy Martino confirmed what Cohen said, reporting that Lindor and the Mets are not closing a deal at this point.

The Mets opening day showdown with the Washington Nationals is just six days away, so it is fair to assume that all eyes will be on Mets and Lindor to see if a long-term contract will be closed before that day arrives.
