Let’s go back. No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Ohio State will meet at the College Football Playoff for the third time in the seven-year history of the sport’s post-season tournament. It will also be the second meeting between the two teams on the biggest stage in just a year after the Tigers defeated the Buckeyes 29-23 in a game that basically went into the final.
Clemson is expected to make the team’s sixth appearance in the playoffs, and the sixth consecutive. The Tigers have won two national championships in the past four years, winning Alabama both times in 2017 and 2019. Scarlet and Gray will make their fourth appearance after winning the Playoff for the first time against Oregon in 2015.
Both teams went through a difficult season to win their conferences and return to this point. Clemson went 10-1, with his only loss reaching No. 4 Notre Dame in the regular season, but he avenged the overtime defeat in the ACC Championship Game with a 34-10 win. Ohio State played only five games of the regular season, but was undefeated and recovered from disadvantage against No. 14 Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Although the Buckeyes did not have media availability until the week of the game, the Tigers allowed players to speak to the media this week, including the defensive striker Bryan Bresee, Defender Baylon Spector, offensive striker Cade Stewart and wide receiver EJ Williams.
