The Senate-approved Covid-19 relief bill on Saturday, a $ 1.9 trillion package modeled after President Biden’s plan, includes provisions favored by a number of industry and defense groups. Biden’s plan was also widely supported by the public.
Some groups that praised the package said that even more help would be needed. Others expressed concern about the size of the account, saying it should have been more specifically targeted to the biggest needs. Republicans in Congress, who were totally opposed to the plan, were among those who mentioned concerns that such a large package could overheat the economy.
