WH says stimulus money deposits will arrive ‘earlier this weekend’

The stimulus money will begin to enter Americans’ bank accounts on Saturday and Sunday, the White House said on Thursday.

“People can expect to see direct deposits reaching their bank accounts this weekend,” press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters.

President Biden signed the $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill on Thursday, ahead of his 8 pm television speech to the country.

The help package includes $ 1,400 direct help checks for adults earning up to $ 75,000 a year and couples paying up to $ 150,000 a year.

It also extends a weekly unemployment supplement of $ 300 through September 6 and gives everyone, except the wealthiest parents, a new annual tax credit of $ 3,000 to $ 3,600 per child, compared to the current $ 2,000 per child.

The package, formally the American Rescue Plan Act, was approved only with Democratic support in Congress.
