It looks like Epic is working on a feature that would allow you to modify weapons in Fortnite.
From the ability to catch fallen players to Chapter 2 fishing mechanics, Fortnite developers are constantly looking for ways to keep gameplay fresh. This last idea would be a big change and divided the community.
Fortnite popular punch @HYPEX recently revealed that Epic Games is testing something called “Weapon Mod Slots”. According to Hypex, this new concept seems to give weapon or accessory skills.

Weapon attachments are common in the sniper genre, and titles like Call of Duty: Warzone and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds have proven that they can also work in a Battle Royale setting.
These accessories range from alternative sights and scope, offering benefits such as a longer zoom or night vision, to silencers and grips, which can reduce noise and recoil, respectively. The question is, how would that look in Fortnite?
Some weapons, like the suppressed submachine gun and the thermally aimed assault rifle, already have built-in accessories when you pick them up. Potentially, Epic would separate the attachments and drop them as a loot.
However, it seems more likely that they will follow the path of “skill”. For example, certain updates may give the user greater speed or health regeneration.
Weapon accessories in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Many Fortnite fans reacted negatively to the possible introduction of weapon accessories. They argue that the simplicity of the loot pool compared to other BRs is a key selling point, and they fear that this mechanic will ruin that.
While this is a valid concern, don’t panic yet. If Epic continues with this feature, they will likely integrate it into the new currency bar system. This means that, instead of muddling the pile of loot, accessories or weapon upgrades, they would be available for purchase at NPCs or even at vending machines.
Of course, at this point, this is all just speculation. If you go ahead, it will certainly be interesting to see the effect that this new mechanic has on Fortnite’s gameplay.
