DETROIT – Wayne County has announced that it will open several vaccination clinics for residents 65 and older.
According to county executive Warren Evans, vaccination clinics for residents of Canton, Highland Park, Hamtramck, Inkster, Melvindale, Pontiac Romulus and Wayne City will begin on February 23.
“I am pleased that Wayne County is in a position to start vaccinating the elderly,” said Evans. “I know that everyone is looking forward to getting back to normal safely. Our team is working hard to ensure that all of our residents can get their COVID vaccine as quickly as the vaccine is available.
There are no immediate appointments and the elderly should make an appointment by calling the site number in their communities.

“Each vaccinated resident brings us closer to ending the pandemic,” said Evans. “I also want to thank the state of Michigan for working with Wayne County to ensure that we have more doses to vaccinate our seniors more quickly. The vaccine delivery process is limited by the vaccine available – from which no one is getting enough – but Wayne County is putting vaccines in the arms as soon as we get them. “
